"If you keep your head down, keep working..." so what is a young person to do if they simply cannot crack the job market? Despite a mountain of effort from numerous different angles. All these posts that say everything is going to be okay are frustrating when you can't get a job to begin with. This is the case for a lot of people I know who are my age.

I'm not sure of your age, but I graduated from college in the middle of the recession and I never made more than $28k-$36k until I was in my late twenties. You just have to keep going.

Keep going on what though? A huge proportion of new grads cannot get jobs at all in their domain, so the alternative is doing service work or something. Which is fine and often necessary, but doesn't compound in any way toward a career ("dead end job").

There's a lot to deal with now, no doubt. I would never pretend it's easy for new grads, but I don't really see it much differently than 2011 when I had to revert to being a barista after I got laid off from my first job out of college.

I really don't want to come across like a boomer, cause I'm not, but anecdotally I don't know a single smart, driven young American for whom I don't have confidence that they'll eventually be very well off. Even more success will come to those who are entrepreneurial enough to build their own ship.

Well hey, as a Zoomer who has gotten relentlessly thrashed since graduating, I appreciate the vote of confidence. All the best
